Jay Sedberry
Jay played Alto Sax in Band 2 from 2001-2005 and serves on the GBA Board as the President. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in History and a minor in Music and began teaching at Ropes ISD. He is in his 16th year at Ropes and serves as the District Technology Director, One-Act Play Director, Assistant Band Director, UIL Coach, and Yearbook Advisor. Jay’s wife, Coleen, is a teacher at Frenship Middle School and is also a Texas Tech graduate. They have two daughters (Jadyn – 12, and Jordyn – 8) who both love Texas Tech and are future Red Raiders.

Jim Dorton
Jim Dorton was a Band 2 Trumpet player in the band from 1987-1990, during which time he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi (Delta Zeta Class) and the Court Jesters. He currently lives in Lubbock with his wife, Amanda. He currently owns his own landscaping business in Lubbock called Big Guy’s Landscaping.

Kami (Keaton) Miller
Kami (Keaton) Miller was a Band 2 Trombone player 2006, 2008-2009, and a Sousaphone player 2007 and served as a drill instructor in 2008. She received her BS in Family and Consumer Sciences with teaching certification in 2010 and an M.Ed in Education Instructional Technology in 2014. Kami lives in Seagraves with her son (Tobias) where she works for Seagraves ISD as the district Instructional Technology Specialist.

Steven Makelki
Steve couldn’t be happier to once again serve the Goin’ Band from Raiderland. He was a trombone player in Band 2 during the 90’s and served the band in several roles - Bandwagon driver, President of Kappa Kappa Psi and as a Band Officer. Steve and his wife, Robin, live in Farmers Branch. He encourages you to preserve your Foot ‘n Half and join the Goin’ Band Association! Wreck’ ‘em!!

Interim Webmaster
Gbohunmi Fawehinmi
Gbohunmi Fawehinmi was a Band 2 clarinet player from 2014-2017, and currently serves at the Interim Webmaster for the Goin’ Band Association. While in the Goin’ Band, he was a section leader as well as a bandwagon driver. He is an alum of Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He graduated from Texas Tech with a Degree in Music Education and began his teaching career in Prosper ISD. Gbohunmi just recently got hired as the assistant band director at Central Junior High in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and will start his 5th year of teaching there. He is also the CEO and founder of his own graphic design company, GBO GRAPHICS LLC. He currently resides in North Richland Hills, TX. Most of his free time includes playing clarinet, exercising, watching sports, and spending time with his fiancé, Tolu.

Stephen Bearden
Stephen was in the Goin Band from 1992-1996 and played trumpet in Band 2. He begins his 18th year as a Realtor and Broker/Owner of Lubbock Discount Realty. Stephen’s wife, Holly, is a retired teacher and Realtor. They have 2 daughters, Bonnie Bearden(Goin Band horn, Band 2 2015-2018) is a Band Director in Lake Jackson. Katie (Bearden) Unfred just graduated from Tech and lives in Lubbock. Stephen was in KKY and still plays with various groups like Alumni Court Jesters, Westwinds Brass Band and Hub City Jazz Orchestra.

Jeff "Jaffo" Ramazani
A 1995 graduate of the GREATEST university in Texas, Jaffo played Tuba in Band II (the best band) from 1989-1993 and served as Band Wagon Driver for 2 years. He is also a Life Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. After working 21+ years in TV news, Jeff came back to where it all started and now works as a Senior Producer for Texas Tech’s Office of Communications & Marketing. While producing videos for various academic and institutional entities on campus, he is always looking for new ways to help promote the impact and importance of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland. Even though his position at TTU does not involved athletics, Jeff can frequently be found on the sidelines of Jones Stadium shooting video and photos of the band… which is helpful with his role as Chair of the GBA’s Communications Committee. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys hanging out with friends, his Godkids and his dog, Princess Moonshine Snarfer von Sparklefart!

Allison (Turner) Land
Allison (Turner) Land played Piccolo in Band 2 from 1992 - 1995 and serves on the GBA Board as a General Member. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Flute Performance, then did post-graduate work at Southwest Texas State University 1995-1996 to earn her All-Level Music Teaching Certification. Allison taught Middle School and high School Band in Central Texas for several years, then worked in the Student Group Festival and Tour Industry for 18 years. She is currently teaching Elementary Music at Avondale Elementary School in Amarillo ISD. Allison's husband, Jessee, delivers freight for an LTL Company and is passionate about his kids, smoking meats, and supporting GBA and all things Texas Tech.

Amanda Dorton
Amanda played piccolo in band 1 from 1987-1990, graduating in 1991 with a Family and Consumer Science degree. She is currently in her 32 year teaching culinary arts. She met Jim Dorton in band 2 and they married in 1990. Her and Jim have 2 children Tiffany and Kyle. Tiffany also played Piccolo in band one and is a member of the GBA. Amanda has been a board member since 2019 and enjoys being involved in the game day tailgates and helping with the ABD auction.

Adaryll Jordan
Adaryll Jordan began his Goin’ Band journey in 1990. He was saxophone section leader, and most grateful to be a member of Band 1! A member of Kappa Kappa Psi & Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Adaryll graduated with a degree in Music Education and began a full time career in pastoral ministry that he continued for over two decades. After retiring from that field, he pursued a successful career in direct sales. Currently semi-retired, Adaryll performs on and teaches saxophone - privately and in schools, locally and online. Certified & trained in personality and business coaching, Adaryll enjoys helping clients in whatever fields overcome obstacles to reach their highest levels of success. For enjoyment, Adaryll smokes meats, plays Pickleball, and enjoys sports. Adaryll has three children - including one current Tech student who’s also a Goin’ Band Alum - and a dog. He’s incredibly excited to serve on the GBA board, especially as we all approach our 100th anniversary!

Courtney Cox
Courtney Cox played French Horn in Band II in the Goin’ Band from 1996-1999 and was a member of Tau Beta Sigma during that time as well. She is one of the newest members of the GBA Board of Directors. Courtney graduated from Tech with a Design Communications degree and has worked as an Art Director for JCPenney, Haggar and Belk. Currently Courtney is a freelance Art Director and designer who lives in Lubbock with her husband, 13 year old daughter and 2 fur babies.

Kevin Howard
Kevin Howard was a trumpet player in Band 2 from 1989-1992. During this time, he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi (Delta Eta class) and the brass band. He married Suzanne (Campbell) in 1993, also a Goin' Band member. He currently works for Restaurant Solutions LLC as Director of Sales and Client Relations.

Kelly Gordon
Kelly played Baritone in Band 1 in 1988 and Tuba in Band 1 in 1989 and 1990. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Education in 1991. She began her career of 31 years in the classroom, in Lubbock ISD, and taught in four other school districts during her career. In her retirement, she serves as the UIL Academic Coordinator for Borden County ISD and is the Current Issues and Events/ Prose Coach, along with other multiple middle school events. Kelly’s husband, Britt Gordon, served as the Drum Major of the Goin Band and he and Kelly were both active members of KKY and TBS respectively. Britt is also retired from education and works as an educational and musical consultant. They have two daughters, Kinsey (Gordon) Lowrey who was a mellophone player in Band 1, has two degrees from TTUHSC and is a SLP and Kate who graduated from Tarleton and is a teacher. In their spare time they like to travel and cheer for the Red Raiders!

Hannah Porter
Hannah played Baritone in Band 2 from 2007-2010 and was a member of Tau Beta Sigma. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in History and went on to get her Masters in History from Wayland Baptist. She currently works for the Texas Tech School of Music as the Manager of Outreach and Engagement, running special events, fundraising, and summer camps. She is a second generation Goin’ Band Alumna and a third generation Red Raider.

Texas Tech Director of Bands
Dr. Sarah McKoin
Dr. Sarah McKoin is the Director of Bands at Texas Tech University and Associate Professor of Music as well as Director of the Wind Ensemble at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina. Dr. McKoin conducts the Texas Tech University Wind Ensemble and teaches all levels of conducting and wind literature. She is entering her ninth summer in residence at the Brevard Music Center where she serves on the conducting faculty and conducts the Transylvania Wind Ensemble comprised of college-aged musicians from throughout the country.

Dr. Joel E. Pagán
Dr. Joel E. Pagán is Assistant Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands, and Director of Athletic Bands at Texas Tech University where he serves as the director of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland, conductor of the Concert Band, and director of the Court Jesters Indoor Athletic Band.
