Kristen Boulet is a graduate of Texas Tech University, 1990. Where she received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She was a woodwind major with clarinet as her principal. She is currently in her 34th year as a music educator, clinician, and a performing artist. Kristen has her degree in Music Education K-12 and has studied clarinet with Forest Aten, Keith McCarty, Robert Wazel, Greg Raden, and Andy Crisanti. She also minored in percussion and studied with Brian Kendrick and Dr. Lisa Rogers. Mrs. Boulet began her career as a band director working with middle and high school students in the Burleson ISD and Lewisville ISD where her program grew to over 400 students at Huffines Middle School in the Lewisville ISD. She just finished her 44th year to be involved with the Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp. She teaches the master classes and sectionals at the camp. Her first year as a camper was 1978. Kristen is in her 18th season as a founding member with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra under the direction of Eugene Corporon. She is also the Lone Star Youth Winds Manager where she facilitates and works with 65 of the best DFW youth musicians. They work with world famous composers such as Omar Thomas, John Mackey, Frank Ticheli and Julie Giroux. They will be traveling to perform at Carnegie Hall this summer. She performs as a free-lance musician across the metroplex with other symphonies and pit orchestras. She is a performing Artist with two major clarinet corporations. These are both very big honors. She is an Artist Clinician for Vandoren and a performing and educating Artist for Selmer-Paris and Conn Selmer. She travels across the great state of Texas and across the USA to work with many young clarinetists and has performed in various states across the nation and overseas. Most recently as a guest soloist in Georgia and Pennsylvania. She currently has a thriving private clarinet studio where she works with over 80 students each year in the Carroll and Northwest ISD’s. Kristen has many clarinet ensembles that have gone on to perform at different conventions such as Music for All, TSSEC, and ICA. Kristen has had numerous students make the TMEA All-State organization yearly, go on to be performing clarinetists and music educators. She is a member of TBS, MPE, ICA, and TMEA. She lives in Roanoke, Texas with her husband Jim (Retired Director of Bands) and their two children Grace and Michael. Her children are her greatest joys. Her daughter Grace is a Graduate of Texas Tech. She plays piccolo and flute, was the president of the Goin Band, was in the Kappa Delta sorority and has her PR degree. Her son Michael is a recent graduate of Northwest high school and is attending Rose State College to pursue his baseball and business career.

Kevin Howard was a trumpet player in Band 2 from 1989-1992. During this time, he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi (Delta Eta class) and the brass band. He married Suzanne (Campbell) in 1993, also a Goin' Band member. He currently works for Restaurant Solutions LLC as Director of Sales and Client Relations.

Kami (Keaton) Miller was a Band 2 Trombone player 2006, 2008-2009, and a Sousaphone player 2007 and served as a drill instructor in 2008. She received her BS in Family and Consumer Sciences with teaching certification in 2010 and an M.Ed in Education Instructional Technology in 2014. Kami lives in Seagraves with her son (Tobias) where she works for Seagraves ISD as the district Instructional Technology Specialist.

Steve couldn’t be happier to once again serve the Goin’ Band from Raiderland as a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the Goin’ Band Association. He was a trombone player in Band 2 during the 90’s and served the band in several roles - Bandwagon driver, President of Kappa Kappa Psi and as a Band Officer. Steve and his wife, Robin, live in Farmers Branch and have a dog named Sally. He encourages you to preserve your Foot ‘n Half and join the Goin’ Band Association!

Gbohunmi Fawehinmi was a Band 2 clarinet player from 2014-2017, and currently serves as the Webmaster for the Goin’ Band Association. While in the Goin’ Band, he was a section leader as well as a bandwagon driver. He is an alum of Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He graduated from Texas Tech with a Degree in Music Education and began his teaching career in Prosper ISD. Gbohunmi just recently got hired as the assistant band director at Central Junior High in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and will start his 5th year of teaching there. He is also the CEO and founder of his own graphic design company, GBO GRAPHICS LLC. He currently resides in North Richland Hills, TX. Most of his free time includes playing clarinet, exercising, watching sports, and spending time with his fiancé, Tolu.

Kelly played Baritone in Band 1 in 1988 and Tuba in Band 1 in 1989 and 1990. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Education in 1991. She began her career of 31 years in the classroom, in Lubbock ISD, and taught in four other school districts during this time. In her retirement, she serves as the UIL Academic Coordinator for Borden County ISD and is the Current Issues and Events, along with other multiple middle school events. Kelly’s husband, Britt Gordon, served as the Drum Major of the Goin Band and he and Kelly were both active members of KKY and TBS respectively. Britt is also retired from education and works as an educational and musical consultant. They have two daughters, Kinsey (Gordon) Lowrey who was a mellophone player in Band 1, has two degrees from TTUHSC and is a SLP and Kate who graduated from Tarleton and is a teacher. In their spare time they like to travel and cheer for the Red Raiders! Kelly is the membership chair for GBA and is in charge of the upcoming Goin Band Centennial Celebration.

Jim Dorton was a Band 2 Trumpet player in the band from 1987-1990, during which time he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi (Delta Zeta Class) and the Court Jesters. He currently lives in Lubbock with his wife, Amanda. He currently owns his own landscaping business in Lubbock called Big Guy’s Landscaping.

Amanda played piccolo in band 1 from 1987-1990, graduating in 1991 with a Family and Consumer Science degree. She is currently in her 32 year teaching culinary arts. She met Jim Dorton in band 2 and they married in 1990. Her and Jim have 2 children Tiffany and Kyle. Tiffany also played Piccolo in band one and is a member of the GBA. Amanda has been a board member since 2019 and enjoys being involved in the game day tailgates and helping with the ABD auction.

A 1995 graduate of the GREATEST university in Texas, Jaffo played Tuba in Band II (the best band) from 1989-1993 and served as Band Wagon Driver for 2 years. He is also a Life Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. After working 21+ years in TV news, Jeff came back to where it all started and now works as a Senior Producer for Texas Tech’s Office of Communications & Marketing. While producing videos for various academic and institutional entities on campus, he is always looking for new ways to help promote the impact and importance of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland. Even though his position at TTU does not involved athletics, Jeff can frequently be found on the sidelines of Jones Stadium shooting video and photos of the band… which is helpful with his role as Chair of the GBA’s Communications Committee. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys hanging out with friends, his Godkids and his dog, Princess Moonshine Snarfer von Sparklefart!

Carter Biggers (1996-1999, Band III, Zit Czar 1997-1999, Grad Assistant 2001-2003) is Director of Bands, Associate Professor of Music, and Co-Lead in the Division of Music at Texas Woman’s University where he conducts the Wind Symphony, University Band and Pioneer Pep Band, teaches undergraduate courses in conducting, secondary instrumental music methods, marching band techniques, and oversees all aspects of the TWU band program. Under his direction, the Wind Symphony, the premiere instrumental ensemble at TWU, has been selected to perform at the 2024 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Southwestern Divisional Conference in Kansas City, MO. Previous conference performances include the 2021 National Association of Collegiate Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI) Conference and 2020 CBDNA SW Divisional Conference. Their first recorded album, “Walking on Shattered Glass” a collection of works for wind band by female composers, was released in February 2023 under the Mark Custom Records Label. Prior to his appointment to TWU in 2016, he was Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at Pennsylvania State University, and as a graduate fellow and teaching assistant in the School of Music at the University of Iowa. In addition to his university teaching experiences, Dr. Biggers was a high school and junior high band director in Texas where his students and ensembles consistently received top ratings at local and state contests. Dr. Biggers is an active guest conductor, adjudicator, clinician and researcher having presented clinics and workshops in across the country and authoring articles in multiple publications. His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, National Band Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, National Association for Music Education, Association of Concert Bands, Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. The Fall 2023 season saw his twin boys join the Goin' Band as first year students (Palmer - Mellophone, Band I, Harrison - Trombone, Band II). He is excited to join the board of the Goin' Band Association this year as an opportunity to give back to this AMAZING organization!

Jimmy Ledbetter was a Band 1 trumpet player from 1995-1999 and a member of Kappa Kappa Psi where he served in several leadership roles including chapter president 1997-1998. Originally from Belton, TX, Jimmy attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Biology. After graduating, Jimmy began teaching science and coaching, later becoming an administrator in west Texas schools. He currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent at Roosevelt ISD. Jimmy is married to Beth Franklin Ledbetter and they have 3 children.

Mindy played horn in Band 2 from 1995-1999, where she served in various leadership roles in both the Goin’ Band and Tau Beta Sigma. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Human Development/Family Studies and went on to get her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. She currently works in administration at Frisco ISD and loves to cheer on the Red Raiders - Wreck ‘Em! Ŧ

Hello, all! My name is Hannah and I am a general board member as of October 2023. I was in Goin’ Band 2015-2018, band 1 piccolo (wayyyy more fun), TBS Delta Epsilon class where I served as the treasurer, and Band Wagon Driver. Currently my day job is secondary math teacher (all four grades), assistant pep-squad sponsor, and game-clock in Goodrich, TX. When I’m not at the school I can be found at my church where I volunteer across multiple ministries. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing piano, traveling, cooking, and baking. William Sommer is a member of the Goin’ Band Association’s Board of Directors, having previously served as a member of the Goin’ Band from 2015-2017 and of Court Jesters from 2016-2019. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration while at Texas Tech. Prior to moving to Lubbock, William attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. He currently works on a health system’s business intelligence team.

Band 1 Trumpet 2007-2011 This is my first year with the GBA as a board member! His days in Goin' Band were some of the most memorable of his life. More importantly, he feels the friends he made along the way were the best part of his experience. As a Trumpet on the Band 1 side of the field, during his tenure he was lucky enough to attend the Gator Bowl on New Year's day 2008 and later be witness to the famous Crabtree catch in the Fall. Today, Aaron is a IT Security Technical Project Manager where he assists in testing the security strength of applications like the ones on your phone in addition to testing the security of the hardware itself. Aaron currently resides in the North Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas with his wife Heather and their two cats Probie and Sleeper Simulant.
